As a trained Race Equality and Cultural Capability trainer for Mental Health, combined with her experience of working around racism, Louisa is available to facilitate workshops in which people from the South West can express their experiences of racism.
This can be beneficial both to the individuals involved, who may have had little chance to express their experiences in a safe environment, and also to local service providers who may be wanting to learn more about the needs of black and minority ethnic communities in their area.
Louisa can offer workshops where black and minority ethnic (BME) people can come together and share their stories in a safe and supportive environment.
Many BME people have to some extent internalised the racism that has surrounded them, and may feel prejudice towards those from minority groups other than their own.The sessions will establish ground rules from the group that will include confidentiality, respect for others, and the chance for each participant to be listened to.
Louisa will also be able to offer advice for further support, as the issues are sensitive and can be difficult.
If the workshop is also to provide information for a service provider, a report will be written up for them. Any information used will be entirely confidential.
